Mick Mars

Mick Mars, borns as Robert Alan Deal, was the lead guitarist for Mötley Crüe. He was born on May 4th, 1951 in Terre haute, Indiana. When he moved to California he dropped out of school to play guitar for a series of unsuccessful blues based rock bands throught the seventies and got day time jobs to make ends meet.
In April of 1981 he put in a want-ad in the Los Angeles "Recycler" newspaper describing himself as a "Loud, rude, and aggressive guitar player" Sixx and Lee contacted him and the three decided they should form a band together, and later Mick persuaded Neil to join them. Mick suggested the name of the band should be called Mötley Crüe. Mars comes off as a very reserved and somewhat quiet individaul but hardly shy.
When he was 19 he was diagnosed
with a arthritic condition called Ankylosing Spondylitis. This has increasingly impaired his movement and caused him a great deal of pain and suffering throughout his years of his professional career. He had to have a hip-replacement surgery at the end of 2004. Because of his serious condition, he has always been on large amounts of pain killers to help deal with the pain. Although since his surgery Mars has greatly improved in health, he also had admitted to having a serious drinking problem. But when Dr. Feelgood became such a hit Mars has stayed clean.
